This site is run by Rye Valley LLC in Charleston, South Carolina. This page says what we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it. If anything here is unclear, email us and ask.

What we collect

Your email address, if you give it to us to get the newsletter. Your answers to the short survey on the welcome page, if you fill it in. Your answers to the Leverage Audit, if you take it: business numbers such as revenue, spending, headcount and hours, the other questions it asks, and the email address you send the results to. Analytics events as you use the site: pages viewed and links clicked. Your IP address and browser user agent, which arrive automatically with any web request.

Why we collect it

The email address is how we send you the essay. The survey answers tell us who is reading, so the writing stays useful to actual readers instead of an imagined average. The Leverage Audit answers are how we work out your results, email you the report, and build benchmarks across many companies. The analytics tell us which pages get read and which do not. The IP address and user agent are used for security and for rough location and device counts.

Who handles it

beehiiv runs the newsletter and stores subscriber records. SparkLoop receives your email address when you subscribe so it can show newsletter recommendations, and signs you up only for the ones you choose. Neon hosts the database where Leverage Audit answers are stored. Resend sends the site's emails, such as the Leverage Audit report and contact form messages. Stripe takes payment for Anyhouck Pro. FastPix streams the video lessons for Anyhouck Pro members. Calendly runs the booking calendar shown on some pages and receives the details you enter to book a call. PostHog and Google Analytics run the analytics. Meta receives page visits through the Meta Pixel, which we use to measure and run our ads. Sentry records site errors, which can include your IP address and browser details. Slack carries the site's internal team notifications. Vercel hosts the site and keeps standard server logs. Some pages also show images or badges hosted by other sites, which see your IP address and browser details when they load. Each of those companies handles data under its own privacy terms. We do not send your personal data anywhere else.

We do not sell your data

We have never sold or rented subscriber data or email addresses and we are not going to. We do not share your email address with advertisers, or with other newsletters unless you choose one through SparkLoop. We do not sell anything that identifies you or your company.

Aggregated statistics

We may combine your Leverage Audit answers with other people's answers into anonymized, aggregated statistics, such as benchmarks, research and reports. We may publish, share or sell those statistics, including as paid products. They never identify you or your company. Statistics already built from many answers stay as they are, because nothing in them points back to you.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and the sending stops. No confirmation step, no exit survey.

Getting your data deleted

Write to the address below and ask us to delete your data. We will remove your subscriber record, your survey answers and your Leverage Audit answers, then confirm when it is done. You do not need to give a reason.

Cookies

The site uses cookies and similar browser storage, some set by the services above. PostHog and Google Analytics use them to tell one visit from another and to count returning readers. The Meta Pixel uses them for advertising, to measure our ads and to show ads to people who have visited. Your browser can block or clear them at any time and the site still works.

Children

This site is written for adults running companies. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
